The firm acts for several major non-profit and private land developers and regularly assist clients in obtaining the requisite land use planning authorisations as well as appealing and reviewing decisions made under land use planning legislation. This includes legislation applicable in the provinces of the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Free State, Limpopo, Northern Cape and North West.

The firm has also won important cases based on land use planning law, including the precedent setting Maccsand case in the Constitutional Court which confirmed that mining cannot occur on land that is not zoned for that purpose. The firm also represented the City of Cape Town as a friend of the court in the case of Le Sueur v eThekwinini municipality which upheld the right of municipalities to use zoning schemes to protect the environment.
