Chloë started her articles at Cullinan and Associates in 2024. She holds a BA triple majoring in law, psychology and french (with distinction) and an LLB (summa cum laude). Chloë completed 2 years of her LLB part time while she worked full time for an NPO, in Durban, working towards achieving spatial justice and equitable access to sustainable livelihoods for informal workers in urban public space. During this time, she worked as a legal researcher and project officer in the Law and Advocacy as well as Child Care programmes with an emphasis on extending social protection to mothers in the informal economy – in alignment with SALRC Project 143.
During lockdown, and between her BA and LLB, Chloë spent several months volunteering as a manual labourer in a game reserve in Zululand. This experience deepened her commitment to environmental law, reinforcing her passion for preserving South Africa’s natural heritage and working alongside local communities whose cultural and daily practices reflect a deep reverence for the environment.
Since joining Cullinans, Chloë has been involved in a broad range of matters, including major High Court offshore oil and gas litigation, as well as legal issues relating to biodiversity and animal protection, climate change, agriculture, waste management, water law, land developments, property law and renewable energy. Chloë has also played a role in the Cullinans team advising government on Cannabis policy and legal reforms.
