Lesai a qualified attorney with strong communication and lateral thinking skills. He joined Cullinans as an associate in 2023 and became a director of the firm in March 2025. Before joining the firm, he practiced at a leading firm in Johannesburg, where he trained as a litigation lawyer.
Lesai’s experience includes managing oil & gas appeals and litigation, advising individual, non-profit and corporate clients on regulatory accountability and due diligence. His work further includes acting as external legal counsel for international NPOs.
Lesai is involved in eco-jurisprudential initiatives (Such as Antarctic Rights) which inform the future of environmental law. He is a commentator polar governance and writes a column for the Daily Maverick, where he questions the intersection or law, science, governance and human responsibility.
